The well-known Versace Mansion is a hugely popular touristy attraction in the heart of the
Miami Beach Art Deco District on Ocean Drive near many
Miami Beach lodging and accommodations. It is one of the must-sees among visitors staying in Miami Beach lodging and accommodations. Gianni Versace was a famous Italian fashion designer and founder of the fashion home, Gianni Versace, which produces accessories, fragrances, cosmetics and home furniture, as well as clothing. He was a friend of Sting, Elton John, Princess Diana and many others. Openly gay, Gianni Versace was a regular customer in the international party stage with his partner Antonio D’Amico. He visited the city of Miami in 1992, and fell in love with what we now know as The Versace Mansion. He moved in, restored it to its original glory and was known to invite international celebrities to party at The Versace Mansion. In June 1997, Gianni Versace was murdered at the age of 50 just in front of The Versace Mansion in Miami by serial killer Andrew Cunana, who was later , himself, killed in Miami Beach. The Versace Mansion was purchased in 2000 by a telecommunications mogul, and has been transformed into a private area reserved for parties and more recently opened to the public with some Miami Beach lodging and accommodations and tours.
